Say it Safer: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Speaking with and About Fostered & Adopted Youth
Say It Safer is a powerful and practical workshop designed for foster and adoptive parents, social workers, and child welfare professionals who want to strengthen how they communicate with and about youth impacted by trauma. Through real-life examples, interactive discussions, and guided reflection, participants will learn how everyday words can either harm or heal—and how to shift their language to promote safety, trust, and belonging.
This course explores the foundations of trauma-informed language, teaches ways to reframe stigmatizing terms, and highlights the voices of those with lived experience in foster care and adoption. By the end, attendees will leave with the tools to speak consciously, listen compassionately, and build stronger, more supportive relationships with the children and families they serve.
Ideal for: Foster parents, adoptive parents, caseworkers, social workers, educators, and anyone working within the child welfare system.
Course wil be on 11/22/25
